8th AND 9th grade:If you had one superpower, what would it be and why? (Hint: describe exactly what your power would be, why you would want that one, what you would use your power for, etc. Would you be good or evil? Would you use it just for fun or for a good cause?)

If I were to have a superpower, I would want super strength. I would want to be the strongest girl in the world, but not be like a super huge body builder, just really strong. I would want to have the super strength so I could do anything I wanted, like if I wanted to go rock climbing, I would be strong enought to do it, or play football, just other things like that that require strength. Of course I would be good, it wouldn't really be fun to be bad, just sometimes have a little bit of rebellion. I would probably just use my powers for fun, or for helping people who don't have amazing super strength like me.

I would also like to have amazing basketball skills/superpower. I want to be the female MVP of NBA. I would like to be just as good as Michael Jordan ever was, I would actually like to be his equal, people would think of me the same way they think of him. I will be known throughout history as the godess of basketball, jumping and dunking just like Jordan. I would play on the Cleveland Cavaliers with Lebron James and Shaquille O'Neal, and be the only girl to ever play in the NBA.

The Strength of Words

None of us really know how strong words can actually be until we're effected by them. There are many different ways that words can affect you. Some words and phrases can also be life changing; even the simple words like "I love you", or even "I hate you" can impact someone's life in a huge way.
Our world and entire society is built on words. The Constitution and Declaration of Independence are all made up of powerful and influential words. Words that without them American would not be as it is today. Many peace treaties were also made up of just the right words, at the right time. It is always words that start or end wars, look at what started the war with Iraq; rumors of nuclear weapons, and we're brought into a war that has been going on for years.
Words can be hurtful as well as wonderful. If someone says a rude comment to you, or makes fun of something about you, or something you're proud of, sometimes you never forget it. There are some things you just can't get over, no matter how hard you try, you'll always remember what they said, and how it made you feel. Good words are remembered in a different and better way. You'll remember what they said about you and the good way it made you feel.
Words can build or break. Whether good or bad, every word can change the future of anything, and we always need to remember how strong words can be, and who they will be effecting.

Technology and Teaching

I don't think that being in Utah keeps us behind in the ways of technology as any other states. Sure, there might be states that are really high-tech, but I think that we're keeping up. There's not really anything that is holding us back from technology. The schools might be though, since teaching, and the way high schools are different in every state might have something to do with it, but other than that, I don't think so.

I think teaching with technology might help us learn better, by keeping up with the modern trends in life such as technology of course, jobs, research and other ways that technology is used in life. It might help us get more into subjects, because I know that whenever a teacher has some cool high-tech thing it gets me interested in learning. It also might help us by giving us information and training in careers for our future. The future is all about technology, and learning how to use it, will really help us out later in life.

Teachers I Get Along With

Since we're reading Nothing But The Truth, which involves a boy who doesn't get along with a teacher, I want you to consider teacher-student relationships you've had in the past. Have you had teachers that you just got along with whether or not you did well in their class? Have you had teachers whose personality just didn't mesh with yours? Without naming names, expound upon these ideas and thoughtfully consider how personality differences or similarities have affected you in your classes.

I have had some teachers in the past who have just been really fun, and they've taught great, and it made me love their class. There also have been teachers who are fun and nice, but the way they teach just doesn't work for me. In Elementary school I had this really fun teacher, she was really nice, she made the learning fun, and it was a great year for me. Just the way she was understanding, and she didn't put herself above all of us third-graders, like she was better than us, but she had fun with us and tried to help us in a way that we enjoyed it.

I've also had horrible teachers that I just hated because I didn't understand the way they taught, or they were just plain mean, and they didn't care about any of the students. They basically just taught, to teach, not to enjoy helping and teaching people, like the good teachers do, but instead they did it maybe because there was nothing else better to do, or they just like to torture children. Whatever there reason for being there is, they were not a good teacher.

Honesty

How important is honesty to you? Is it more important than kindness? Share a story of a time you or someone you know was not honest and it caused problems or was 'too honest' and it caused problems.

I think they're both really important, because they both have alot to do with eachother. It is good to be kind and honest at the same time, because you could be saying something that was honest, or at least your honest opinion, could not be kind and really hurt someone. Or not being honest at all could hurt someone also. It's just really important to be aware of other people's feelings, cause you never know when you could be hurting someone's feelings whether you're being honest or not.
There have been many times when my friends have asked me for an honest opinion, but if I told them my honest opinion it would hurt them, or when they want to know something, but it would be better for them if I wasn't honest, and maybe said a little lie to help them feel better about themselves.

The End of the World as We Know It.

The world is ending. There are natural disasters happening everywhere. You know that soon you will be stranded in your house with only the food left in your cupboards. You make a mad dash to the grocery store but everyone there is in such chaos that you know you'll only have time to grab one item before escaping with your life. What item of food do you grab?Describe what the food is, how long you'll wait to eat it, what it will feel like to know you're eating it for the last time. Will you share with your family? Will you hide it away until there's nothing else left? Will you eat it a little at a time or gobble it all at once? Describe every aspect of enjoying this last savory morsel of food.

My item of food would probably be a big bag of chicken. So then we could cook it, and it would last awhile. I would share it with my family, but eat it in rations. Each of us can have a couple of bites off of one chicken one day, so that we could at least go maybe a week off of just one bag. If there weren't electricity to cook the meat though, I would take my chances eating it raw.

If something like that were to happen, I would do anything to get as much food as I could. I would be just as rough as everyone else, and just grab whatever I could.

Super Power

Imagine that you have a superpower. The Power of Persuasion. You can convince anyone of anything. How would you use that power? What would you try to get, do, change? Would you use it for good? Or evil? Describe what the Power of Persuasion is.

The Power of Persuasion is being able to persaude people, or tell them what you want, or think is right, in a way that they would agree with me. I would probably use it go get what I want from other people. You know, persaude them to do something for me, or get something for me. I'd probably also convice people to do other things that I think might help others.

I would convice Quincy that she is a fool, and that she could never be as cool as me. No matter what she tried, I would still always be 3% cooler than her. But, then in reality, we both know we are the coolest, only when we're together. Because our persausive powers only work together to combine extreme persausive forces, and convince everyone else, that we are the coolest.

Book Review

The last book I read was How To Be Popular my Meg Cabot. It was about a girl named Steph Landry. When Steph was in sixth grade, she accidently spilled a red super big gulp soda on the most popular girl in school, Lauren Moffat. Everyone from that day on would always say "don't pull a Steph Landry". Steph is now starting her junior year in high school, and she's tired of everyone making fun of her. She finds a book in her friends attic about how to be popular, and decides to use it as a guideline. School starts, and after the first week, she finds herself one of the most popular girls in school because of a school auction fundraiser she came up with. When the popular crowd wants to have a rager party at her Grandpa's observatory, she needs to decide whether to keep her popularity, or keep her old friends. She decides to not let them have the party, and in the end she's happier about it because she finds out who her true friends are.

I really enjoyed this book, and I bet other girls my age would also enjoy it. It had a good storyline, and good characters. The author really found a way to get you into the book with the first page you read. There was some swearing, and some other things that it deffinitley could've gone without but it had a good plot. It makes you think about the real things in life, and how you don't need to be popular to be happy. I would give this book 4 1/2 stars.

AMB are my letters

There was once a girl named Amanda who is 14 years old. Amanda's father is a botanist, and whenever he goes to fun, exotic places to study plants, he takes her with him. This one time, Amanda's father was going to Madagascar to discover a new plant found by the locals, and he brought Amanda along with him. Amanda was excited to go to Madagascar mostly for the animals. She loves giraffes and zebras, and she was hoping to get some good pictures of them while she was there. She brings her camera and journal along with her, ready to take pictures and ovserve the wild animals of the Savanna.

My Ultimate Christmas Break

Describe your ideal Winter Break. Where would you go? What would you do? Money is not an obstacle. If you could do anything you wanted, what would that be?

I would want to go to Australia, to spend christmas in Australia, enjoying the beach and the awesome accents. I would then go shopping in Australia, with absolutley no limit of money. When Christmas was over I would go to Ireland, spend a couple of days there, then go to Italy. I would see all the ancient ruins there, and have fun with the native romans.

Once I got back from all that, I would go snowboarding. Have a helicopter drop me off someplace high, right onto the snow, then snowboard all the way to the bottom. I would then enjoy a nice cup of hazelnut hot cocoa, then go home and lay around the rest of the break, just relaxing with no worries.
